Last summer, I developed a nagging case of tennis elbow caused by years of hard training in boxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and powerlifting. I had two damaged tendons in my left forearm and tried just about everything I could think of; rest, heat therapy, ice sleeves, and other conservative treatments, but nothing seemed to fully solve the problem.
I met Alex Bulan through my Jiu-Jitsu academy and learned that he worked in sports medicine. He encouraged me to come in for a consultation, and I was immediately impressed by how thoroughly he explained my condition and the treatment options available. After doing my own research, I decided to move forward with a Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injection.
One of the things I really liked about PRP was that the treatment uses plasma harvested from my own body. Alex explained how the injection helps restart the healing process in damaged tendons, and throughout the entire process he was knowledgeable, professional, and patient.
I am thrilled to report that after my PRP injection and about 6–8 weeks of rehabilitation, I was able to return to training. I started with controlled movements in powerlifting, then returned to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and finally boxing. Today, I’m back doing the activities I love because of the care and guidance I received.
If you’re dealing with a sports-related injury and looking for someone who truly understands active athletes, I highly recommend Alex Bulan. Thank you, Alex, for helping me get back on the mats, in the gym, and in the ring!
